Con Russell Brand como anfitrión del show, "The Hunger Games" les fue muy bien al llevarse a casa cuatro trofeos palomitas de oro, incluyendo las categorías a Mejor Interpretación Masculina (Josh Hutcherson) y Mejor Interpretación Femenina (Jennifer Lawrence).

Por no ser menos, Robert Pattinson y Kristen Stewart de la saga de "Twilight" se llevaron a casa el premio a Mejor Beso (teniendo a Chris Hemsworth en representación de Pattinson que no pudo asistir al evento). Su exitosa película de vampiros, "Amanecer - Parte 1" también obtuvo el tan codiciado premio a Mejor Película del Año, teniendo a Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones y Kristen Stewart aceptando el premio.
Los tributos especiales fueron para Johnny Depp, con el Premio Generación, y Emma Stone que fue homenajeada también con el trofeo inaugural Trailblazer, que se le otorga a un novato que brilla en Hollywood. El resto de ganadores tras las fotos.
